How the World Works

Chomsky, Noam. How the World Works. Noam Chomsky interviewed by David Barsamian. Edited by Arthur Naiman. London: Penguin Group, 2012 (originally published by Soft Skull Press, 2011).

This Noam Chomsky's book discusses how (mainly) US foreign policy has seen foreign countries from the perspective as export and import market for the US economy. And shows consistent US-intervention in countries' democratic development. Under the pretext of democratic development support, totalitarian or criminal regimes were supported to get or stay into power to support the US interest in capitalist markets.

The book shows - perhaps inspired by George Orwell's 1984 - how under the narrative of democracy, peace, and market economy often the opposite was done.

The book shows events and economic systems concerns at the levels of Narrative, Story and Fact, and shows the depiction of what is said and done as being often very different.
