Concepts
A Pattern can be understood, first, as a "regularity in the world, human-made design, or in abstract ideas" source . It may also refer to a model of something that can be copied and applied for other uses, see examples here
.
Second, for our purposes, we will mainly understand a Pattern in a slightly more concrete fashion of the above-mentioned definition, namely as "a configuration of concepts, their meanings, the forms in which they are expressed, and the contexts used for their interpretation". By applying this focus on patterns, we essentially apply a perspective from Semiotics as offered by, among others, Charles Sanders Peirce and Umberto Eco.
Meaning is created by and can be expressed in Language Patterns. It can also be turned into Pattern Language. The latter refers to configurations of (elements of) designs for solutions. This can be applied in architecture, art, organization design, mathematics, software development, strategy building, execution, learning, and teaching. Application options are endless.
